Ode to an Abode. Moorhens nestling in the bull rushes. Willows weeping on the surface of the pond. The boat tucked up still as if for winter. Hollyhocks standing tall on the bank, a flourish of purple poppies waiting to burst up along the white front border. The wind whipping it's way through the statuesque sycamore. A gentle breeze flowing through the meadow. Ahead the rolling countryside a quilt made of patchwork orchards, hops and wheat turning golden as i speak. The bees, the birds - finches, tits, starlings, a jay, a woodpecker, a red kite taking flight. The secret garden that is behind throws up a mass of rosemary, thyme, marjoram, sage, chives and parsley whilst underneath the cherry tree the decking lies baking hotter even than the tub. The tall, majestic conifers rule the roost among the lines of box and lavender and the pheasants that have become friends meander freely into the field that wraps around us strewn with the blueness of linseed flowers strong enough to match the sky. Among the smell of honeysuckle and jasmine be uplifted, invigorated, rested and relaxed. Sit back, take a dip, take a sip. Be pampered, be spoilt, be chilled and filled- with goodness, happiness and cheer.
